Lady Boss :: Danielle Rivera of Danfredo Photos + Films

This post is part of a series of interviews with Lady Boss hostesses.

Danielle is co-hosting our March Lady Boss at her shared studio space in Philadelphia (with Meg Skill of Nutmeg Cake Design!). Registration goes live on Wednesday, March 2. Be the first to know by signing up for our email list if you haven't already!

One of our favorite things about Danielle is that whenever we get to work with her, she says she wants "to get weird." You know — in the good, embrace-whoever-you-are, let your true colors shine, totally goofy geeked out kinda way. And we do. And it's magical. So we know that March lady boss is gonna be a good one because we're all gonna be getting real real. Without further adieu...

WHAT MAKES HER A BOSS:

Q: What do you do?
A: We (my husband and I) are the photographers and videographers behind Danfredo Photos + Films (DANielle + wilFREDO = DANFREDO). Our focus is primarily on weddings, but we also take on a select few commercial clients every year. With those, we create branded promotional photos and films for small businesses.

Q: Tell us about a project you recently wrapped
A: We just finished up a branding shoot for our studiomate, Nutmeg Cake Designs! Meg is wonderful at connecting with her clients through social media, but she wanted to share more about herself and her creative process with the world. To accomplish that, we filmed a promo video and snapped a few photos that highlighted who she is as an artist and provided an inside look at the booking process from start to finish. We're pretty pumped about how it turned out!

Q: What makes you go to work each day?
A: Wil and I don't have wedding photos of our own to look back on to remember our special day. Every wedding and elopement we photograph or film is an opportunity for us to capture the moments and memories we would have liked to have to remember our big day by.

Q: Tell us about a dream project or client.
A: I didn't know this was a dream project of mine until a few weeks ago, but...I would LOVE to photograph an elopement at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, South Africa. Why? It's inhabited by a colony of African penguins that lives there and OMG, I WANT TO GO TO THERE. I think I might cry from cuteness overload. I'm crying now just thinking about it.

Q: What made you decide to host a Lady Boss?
A: Despite not having any training in photography, film production, marketing or business, we've had a good amount of success with our company. I'm excited to use the Lady Boss platform to share my story with other small business owners and hopefully inspire them to take a leap of faith to create the life and business of their dreams.

P.S. Nutmeg Cake Design and Danfredo Photo + Films' studio space (Camp Confetti) is home of two more killer businesses: Confetti & Co. and Kate Farley Design. They all offered to host together but we decided to spread it out into two Lady Boss events — so we'll hopefully have another one there before long!
