A Styled Shoot with Pat Robinson at Terrain at Styers

This shoot goes down in the books for us. As we were planning and designing for this shoot, we just let our vision guide it. It wasn’t guided by particular dictates, merely our dream of what could be. Working with a team of crazy-talented, super collaborative vendors resulted in visual magic — and a shoot worthy of being published on Green Wedding Shoes!

Pat Robinson slayed the photography with his masterful way of capturing the natural light. He perfectly captured the details and the entire mood of the day.

Jess and Paige from We Are Wildflowers jumped right in and crafted an amazing greenery backdrop on site. They had the killer idea to make sure the backdrop was mobile so it could be used as both the ceremony backdrop as well as the sweetheart cake table backdrop. This is the perfect example of choosing a wow-factor to splurge on and then getting creative about how to maximize the impact — we totally geek out over that kind of thinking. We love getting working with new vendors during shoots because it gives us great insight into their work ethic, style, and personality, which they had in spades!

Meg of Nutmeg Design ran with our love of patterns. For inspiration, we gave her a patterned fabric swatch that we later made napkins out of for the shoot. She hand painted the same pattern onto a tier of the cake, then adorned the cake with her amazing sugar flowers (which tied in elements from the pattern in 3D form).

Looking over these pictures brings us such joy and gets us excited for the creative possibilities that lie ahead!

Styled Shoot :: Mixed Metals Geometric Inspiration

During this absolutely frigid cold spell we’ve been having I thought it was appropriate to share one of our favorite shoots from last winter with Alexandra Whitney Photography. Shot at Maggpie Vintage Rentals, this shoot came together with an amazing team of vendors who were such troopers through the frigid temps. Check out these colorful DIY's!

SK created the large statement wall with various-sized canvases, painter’s tape, and a perfect palette of paint. We used it as a focal point behind our table, but it would also be a fun option for a photo booth or ceremony backdrop.

My only request to the talented ladies of Falls Flowers was to include magnolia leaves. I love the way the back of magnolia leaves look coppery, fitting nicely with our 'mixed metal' theme. Don't you love the way Falls Flowers made such a statement with them on the back of the chairs?! To top it off, the centerpieces they created for the table were stunning, spilling over the edge of the compotes and onto the table.

For the place settings, we DIY’d hammered copper placemats. The hours we spent hammering away on them paid off because they are still one of my favorite elements of the table. They add such depth! LoveLeigh Invitations created these fun menus that fit right into the the salad plates. I’m all about finding new ways to display old classics.

Philly Cake Maker masterfully created the geometric cakes, which we adorned with flowers and a handmade geometric topper. The geometric trinkets hanging above the cake table were crafted by soldering steel sticks cut at various sizes together, then spray painting them with different metallic finishes.

We are so grateful for the team of vendors that braved the frigid temps and came out to pull this shoot together!

Fall Wedding in Philadelphia's Fishtown at Front & Palmer

When your love story includes an engagement ring made out of bacon, you know it’s a good one! From my first meeting with Lauren & Jamie, I knew their wedding planning journey was going to be full of fun and lots of laughs.

Lauren popped the question to Jamie while on a trip to Jackson Hole — the bacon grease burnt his finger, he asked if she was joking, and she burst into happy tears. It looks like he said yes, and clearly, they're headed for a life of giddy happiness!

Lauren & Jamie were all about creating a day that was truly a representation of them {which you know is by far my favorite thing}! From centaur cuff links to a confetti toss recessional, and from a choreographed first dance to “It Takes Two {To Make a Thing Go Right}," to a collection of gold shoes — it's safe to say we succeeded in what we set out to do.

Lindsay from Readyluck did an amazing job of capturing the personalities of the couple as well as everyone else who was part of the day. They're masters in the art of capturing a moment.

As always, Falls Flowers nailed the floral designs. The color palette, texture, and overall “feel” of the florals were exactly what Lauren envisioned. Each centerpiece made a statement without obstructing the view across the table — something the couple specifically requested.

The couple selected Front & Palmer as their venue because it had warmth and character, yet still had the 'blank slate' quality that allowed them to make it feel like their own.

I’m still ecstatic they went with the recommendation for Birdhouse Productions as their videographer — they did such an amazing job capturing the joy and personalities of Lauren and Jamie. You have to watch their video — I mean, seriously, you've gotta to see that first dance choreography!

Lauren and Jamie — you were a joy to work with and I know you're in for a very happy life together. Congratulations and thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your special day!
