Green House Wedding

Styled Shoot :: Botanical Greenhouse Inspiration

Two days in a row for the Horticultural Center on our blog! We can't get enough of its natural light, color, and texture. Plus, in the cold months, you get the added benefit that it’s a nice, warm greenhouse! The inspiration behind this shoot was the color palette: sage, golden yellow, coral, fuschia, and french blue.

The ceremony scene included a gorgeous chuppah from Kate Farley Design {huge thanks to her husband for setting this one up}! For the florals, we focused on texture and creating dimension through a variety of greenery — like ivy and eucalyptus. The bride wore an amazing Anna Campbell dress from Lovely Bride, completely handmade in Australia. I couldn’t be more excited that Anna Campbell is now carried in the U.S. — she is one of my favorite dress designers.

For the reception scene, we dreamed up a floral chandelier using an old wooden ladder and a lot of Kate's floral magic. We wanted to create unique place settings on the farm tables from Party Rental Ltd, so we used a larger stoneware dish as a charger. They were a beautiful contrast beneath the simple white dinner plates.

Kate hand-lettered the signage and paper goods, then worked with Jessa from Squeeze My Hand Letterpress to print stationery and menus. Kate then used the same motif on chalkboard placemats — such a great detail! That lady can do no wrong!

The dessert table was adorned with irresistible goodies from Clara’s Groovy Deliciousness. Hello, caramel apples! Dessert tables are still one of my favorite wedding trends because I love the way they allow couples to share their favorite special treats in addition to {or instead of} wedding cake. How sweet is that white cake adorned with a pop of yellow?

Lindsay Docherty captured all the colors and textures perfectly. I especially admire the way she used the existing space {like the statue} to sort of mimic the elegant arms of the bride in her stand-alone portraits. Gorgeous. There are so many great facets of the Horticultural Center and she totally capitalized on them!

Philadelphia Spring Wedding at Horticultural Center

Emily and Michael were good friends throughout college and they reconnected a couple of years after they graduated. When he proposed, she couldn’t believe it and kept asking “are you serious? Are you serious?!” Yep, he certainly was! And their wedding captured their bright personalities beautifully.

Though she couldn't wait to be married, Emily’s next thought was, "Ugh, I don’t want to plan a wedding!" So she did something I encourage every couple to do. Instead of starting out with a massive to-do list, she jotted down her thoughts on how they wanted their wedding to feel. I love that she still has that piece of paper and that when they walked into their reception, they felt exactly the way they wanted it to feel from the beginning.

Emily wanted shades of purple, so that’s just what they got — from the linens, to the amazing flowers from Love n’ Fresh, to the DIY ribbon wall behind the head table. Emily's father and brother crafted the awesome escort card display and the table numbers. Props to the guys — gotta love handy men!

The couple chose Sharyn Frenkel as their photographer because they loved the way she captured those candid moments. They wanted to remember a day of laughter, joy, and maybe even a few happy tears.

Emily & Michael — thank you for choosing us to guide you through your planning process! Looking at your wedding pictures still makes me smile because of the love you have for one another and the joy you take in being with each other!
